Hit the Road with Harley-Davidson

Another State of Mind

Last weekend was wonderful riding weather in Minnesota!
Saturday’s trip took us on a 300-mile jaunt through the Southern part of Minnesota. When we left the Twin Cities it was drizzling on us. Ten miles out of the cities, the
skies cleared up and it became a blue-sky day! We rode to a small town called Lyle near the Minnesota-Iowa border. In this town, a local farmer has built a small ball field in his
backyard. Sort of a mini Field of Dreams! This ball field is even surrounded by the required cornfields. Every year he throws (sorry for the pun) a softball tourney here.
For one day in the summer this ball field comes alive. This is a very casual event with families coming with coolers, lawn chairs, and picnic food. Luckily my mother-in-law was
going to be there. We knew she would provide the necessary gear of a cooler, lawn chair and picnic basket for us. It’s kind of hard carrying all of that on a bike! Before we
headed back North to the cities, we had to ride another mile (yes a WHOLE MILE) south to say we rode into Iowa! This weekend, I’m in another state of mind – riding to Wisconsin
in support of the MS Society.

The Journey Has Started!

This weekend Natalie, Terry, Diane, and I sat down and started planning a ride to Vancouver, B.C. The funny thing about riding motorcycles is that, as Natalie stated in one of her first blogs, it
really is about the journey. That being said, planning the ride is the beginning of the journey. We brainstorm and joke as our plans begin to take shape. We ask questions like where are we going to
meet as we are leaving from Arizona and Terry and Natalie are leaving from Minnesota (Montana)? What passes can we go through? Let’s stay in this town because we like the name (Big Fork, MT). Can
we go through North Dakota? It is one of four states I have not been to (no). Have you seen the topography of Idaho? Ketchum looks awesome! Did you see the lodge Terry found?

The really nice part of all this is that even though we don’t leave until September, the journey has started.
