Holiday makeup tips

Studies show that the holidays are the most depressing time of year for many people. The best way to get out of the funk is to add a little sparkle to our day — and your makeup. Here are some holiday makeup tips to revamp your look.

Winter can be a serious buzzkill on your beauty routine. But there are easy ways polish up your style and wake up your face for the holidays. As the season gets closer, there are lots of ways to restore some pep to your look – how far you go is entirely up to you!

“Makeup is such a fun and essential part of the holidays!” shares makeup artist Leora Edut. “There are plenty of holiday parties, functions, and events where women want to be at their glam-best.”

But what to do when you have 10 minutes to get ready after a grueling day at work?

Red lips

A splash of color always works for holiday times and truly can give our eyes and skin a pick-me-up for the party. “I absolutely love Poppy Kings new lip shine in Red Sinner, it gives your lips the perfect pop without screaming, “Red lips coming through!” says Leora.

Multi-Purpose Beauty

Another great idea is having a product that you use for more then one thing. “Diamond Powder by Makeup Forever has a perfect combination of glitter and shimmer which you can use in the inner corners off your eye to give the perfect highlight, a little on your décolleté area to give your skin a beautiful glow, or both!” Leora shares.

Lengthen those Lashes

“My favorite beauty secret is lashes!”says Leora. “They are no fuss, lots of fun, and give others the illusion that you have full eye makeup on!” Try the individuals as they last anywhere for 2 weeks to 3 months.  Add a little mascara to just the ends and voila!

Stay Healthy

We always have to remember, beauty starts from the inside out. “Everyone needs to start out with a healthy diet and drink lots of water. An exercise regimen is very important and you need to come up with a program that helps you accomplish goals through a nutritionist,” says Dr. Matthew Bonanno, a board-certified plastic surgeon.

If you live somewhere warm and sunny, avoid the sun, as it can cause premature aging, and most importantly – moisturize.

Exercise

The best way to avoid feeling drab is to get moving and exercise. “Work out in your heels with hairbrush in hand to fight holiday pounds!” says “fitness diva” Marina Kamen.

Lastly, remember: The holidays are a celebration! Do your best to relax, have fun, and celebrate those you love. If that doesn’t make you feel fabulous, another cocktail certainly won’t hurt!
