At-home beauty treatment inspired by ancient Egypt

Cleopatra was renowned for embodying beauty and sexuality during her powerful rule as pharaoh. But what did this busy woman do for herself in between conquering successful men and managing a nation? Why, pamper silly with ancient Egyptian beauty treatments, of course. Read on to find out how you can get skin as beautiful as hers.

Cleopatra deemed the Dead Sea, a salt lake near Jordan and Israel, her own spa to enjoy exclusive beauty treatments. The Dead Sea is 10 times saltier than any other body of water (not to mention, it is the lowest point on Earth), and therefore, rich in minerals such as calcium, sulfur, zinc and sodium. Thought to have healing properties for skin and respiratory conditions, this salty body of water maintains its intrigue for woman all over the world. Here is a contemporary at-home beauty treatment based on what Cleopatra’s ancient splendor may have encompassed.

Heat the dead sea mud

First, moderately heat Dead Sea Mineral Mud and smooth over entire body. Let dry for 7 to 15 minutes and wipe off with a wet washcloth.

Fill your bathtub

Fill your bathtub 3?4 of the way full with hot water and soak for 10 to 15 minutes in bath salts derived from the Dead Sea. Try Ahava Honey-Herbal Mineral Bath Salts for complete relaxation. The light, airy scent is sure to sooth away the stress of a long day at work or rowdy kids!

Shave your legs

The salt minerals make your skin extra smooth, which primes your legs for a close, slick shave. You’ll be amazed at how easily the razor glides over your skin.

Marinate yourself

Cleopatra may not have had modern-day conveniences like pre-bottled shampoo, but she surely had olive oil, which could have easily been extracted from the abundant olive trees in places like Israel. My current fave is the organic Olive Oil Creamy Aloe Shampoo with root stimulator. It removes calcium build-up and thankfully doesn’t dry out your hair. You can even use it as a mask, leaving it in for two to three minutes for extra-soft hair.

Rinse, then repeat

Be sure to rinse your entire body thoroughly with clean water before drying off. Then, immediately rub Jojoba Oil all over your body. The oil, derived from the seed of the jojoba plant, is incredibly nourishing for skin and hair. For an even greater treat, generously massage the oil on your feet and cover them with thick socks before going to bed. Your feet will be exceptionally soft and hydrated in the morning!

Add lotion

Pamper your skin even more with Ahava Mineral Body Lotion. Lather this on top of the jojoba oil for extra-moisturized skin. If you choose not to use the oil on your feet, treat them with Seacret Foot Cream with Tea Tree Oil. The ingredients combine natural oils and Shea Butter with the bacteria-fighting properties of Tea Tree Oil.

Repeat weekly for rejuvenation and beauty-infused power.
