7. hiding the evidence
I think this is something we were all guilty of in middle and high school, and we can chalk it up to simple ignorance. Got a blemish? Cover it up with a pound o’ foun’ and hope no one notices. Actually, trying to cover a zit draws more attention to it and makes your acne worse.
The redemption
If you have a serious acne problem, you need to see a dermatologist. If you can’t afford one, hit up your local drug store and invest in some skin clearing products (Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, Clearasil). Acne-friendly makeup is light, water-based and matte. Adding sheer to your face will only make you look like a grilled cheese sandwich.
The good news is, even adult acne clears up. The bad news is, scars last for a long time. So don’t pick at your zits, make ’em bleed and then shove makeup into them. Simply adopt a clean skin regimen, use light makeup and wait for your skin to calm down.
