Congratulations on your new baby! If you are feeling anything less than beautiful, follow these fashion and beauty tips to look (and feel!) your best this fall.
Pick forgiving fashions.
If you haven’t returned to pre-pregnancy form, don’t let it get you down: This fall’s fashions are very forgiving of figure flaws. Slouchy cardigans, flowing tunics and sweet shirtdresses are all stylish fashion choices for fall that you’ll adore. Pair sweaters, tunics and tops with long skirts for a boho-chic look that’s comfortable and pulled together.
Experiment with accessories.
With the expense of a new baby, you probably can’t afford a whole new wardrobe. Instead of splurging on expensive pieces, pick up handbags and other accessories to show off the latest trends and give your wardrobe a lift. Diaper bags that double as laptop bags are very practical and come in fun colors and styles. Headbands are all the rage and perfect when you don’t feel like doing your hair. Same goes for beanies, berets and other fall hats.
Rejuvenate your pregancy glow.
That sheer glow that you had throughout your pregnancy usually vanishes right after delivery. Get it back this fall by using a gel bronzer or cream blush. Don’t overdo the color, though: You don’t want it to look unnatural. If you use bronzer, pick a shade that’s only one or two away from your natural complexion. Apply it to the areas where the sun hits your face naturally (forehead, cheeks, nose and chin) and blend, blend, blend. For blush, pick a rosy color, smile and apply it lightly to the apples of your cheeks. Sweep it upward and outward.
Wake up those tired eyes.
You don’t have to apply full-blown eye makeup every morning (who has time?), but you can wake up your tired eyes with a few simple tricks. Apply cold compresses to your eyes, and then add a few drops of Visine. To eliminate dark circles, use a concealer with a yellow base. Use brown-black mascara and brown liner on your upper lashes only, to draw the attention away from the circles or swelling under your eyes. Gold eye shadow is a great choice for fall and can be swept over the lid and up toward the browbone.
Get baby-friendly lips.
Obviously, you don’t want to transfer sticky gloss or heavy lipstick to your baby when you kiss him all day long. So look for botanical lip balms without menthol and other additives. They’ll keep your lips soft, pure and kissable! ChapStick 100% Naturals line or any of the botanical balms from Burt’s Bees are good choices.
