It’s holiday party season. Get your makeup routine down so you can jet from party to party without missing a beat. Start with your lips. Follow these tips for luscious lips that last.
Go red
Tis the season to wear red. Pick a lipstick that is true red or has slight blue undertones. Steer far away from orange-reds, which will make your teeth look yellow. If you haven’t found your perfect shade of red yet, head to makeup counter at the department store and start experimenting.
Apply primer on your lips
Primer will extend the wear of your lip color. If you don’t have primer, apply foundation over them. Another tip to make your lip color last is to use your liner pencil to fill in your lips entirely before applying any lipstick or gloss.
Use a brush to apply lipstick
For a special holiday party, you want your lipstick to look just right. Take the time to carefully fill in your lined lips by using a lip brush. Apply the lipstick and be sure to get in the corners. Blot with a tissue, then apply again.
Add some shine
You don’t need to slather your lips in goopy gloss. Just add a dab of clear gloss in the center of your bottom lip over your lipstick. Smack your lips together to spread the shine.
Tone down your eye makeup
If you want to emphasize your lips, don’t take away from them with too much eye makeup. Skip the smoky eye and instead use a neutral shadow and a couple coats of mascara. Avoid red nails as well. Nude nail polish and unique neutrals like gray and camel are popular right now.
