Christina Aguilera’s Super Bowl national anthem flub sets Twitter ablaze

Christina Aguilera‘s Super Bowl XLV performance of the National Anthem was supposed to be a triumphant win for the talented singer. Instead, it turned into a nightmare after Aguilera flubbed the song’s lyrics and the video quickly went viral.

Ouch.

We have to admit that we felt quite a bit of secondhand embarrassment for Christina Aguilera as she flubbed the lyrics to the National Anthem live during Super Bowl XLV in Dallas, Texas.

Aguilera managed to sing the wrong words during her performance of the iconic song – she sang “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last reaming” instead of the real lyrics “”O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming.”

Awkward.

We have to admit, we feel really bad for Aguilera – after all, we’d be nervous too if millions of eyes were watching us sing.

The web isn’t so forgiving. Almost immediately, Twitter and the web were buzzing with talk of Christina Aguilera’s National Anthem mishap.

I wonder if Christina Aguilera would get the lyrics right to happy birthday….?” one tweeter wrote.

Christina Aguilera: Worst. National Anthem. Ever,” wrote another Twitter user.

“Christina Aguilera, FTW. Maybe a teleprompter next time when she needs to say “USA?” yet another mused.

That’s one of the best – or worst, if it happens to you – things about the web: your minor screw-ups can now be seen by millions in a matter of seconds.

What do you think? Will “pulling an Aguilera” become a new euphemism for messing up? Or, should we cut her some slack?
