Even the most stylish among us can make mistakes when it comes to getting gorgeous. Check out our list of common beauty blunders — and our tips on fixing and avoiding them.
Not removing makeup at night
This is something of which women everywhere are guilty at one time or another, but don’t make going to bed with your makeup on a habit. It can irritate skin, clog pores and cause breakouts. Even if you’re falling asleep standing up, at least use makeup removing wipes to cleanse your face.
Skipping sunscreen
Even if the sun’s not out or if the forecast calls for rain, don’t forget to apply sunscreen before you leave the house. If you skip this step, you’re putting your skin at risk for sun damage, wrinkles and cancer.
Overplucking brows
Getting even slightly overzealous with the tweezers can spell disaster, and the worst part is that overplucking is so easy. Get brows professionally shaped if you can so you have something to go by when you do it yourself. If you have overdone it, don’t panic: Brow color in a shade that matches your eyebrows can fill in any sparse patches so your overplucking isn’t too obvious.
Not blending enough
If you’re in a rush or you’re just not paying attention, under-blending your foundation is all too easy, leaving you with a makeup line around your jaw. Take the time necessary to properly blend, and remember that less is more when it comes to foundation. It’s much easier to add product than to remove it, so start with less than you think you need. A foundation brush also helps achieve a more polished look.
