American Idol might be all about the pipes, but if the contestants don’t look good on stage in front of a million people, the world will see only one thing: Fashion roadkill. Thursday’s episode of American Idol decided the fate of the final 24 contestants and introduced America to this year’s real competition. We’ve picked out the top five fashion-forward Idols.
5. Ashthon Jones
Can someone say Diana Ross? Her big, natural hair is the only show-stopping fashion accessory she needs. The fitted gold dress on her cute figure doesn’t hurt, either.
4. Thia Megia
At just 15 years old, Thia Megia looked pretty in her pink ballerina dress on the show Thursday night. She is young, flirty and — we hope — strong enough to resist pressure to sex it up for ratings.
3. Jovany Barreto
Not only is he tall, dark and handsome, but Jovany’s muscles also have a hard time containing themselves in his white collared shirt (and we have a hard time containing our excitement about that). The man knows how to match a belt to his hat without looking tacky. We can’t wait to see what he brings to the stage this AI season.
2. Rachel Zevita
Taking a cue from Kate Middleton with an over-the-top feathered hat, Rachel’s boyish black and white look is super cute, yet very sophisticated. It might be a tad old for her, but we still think she rocks it.
1. Lauren Turner
Lauren’s Material-Girl-meets-Michael-Jackson’s-glove look is, like, totally ’80s, but she doesn’t make it look like a costume. Plus, curly hair rocks — and she is a rocker.
