My driver’s smiling face was a warm welcome among the sea of people at the international arrivals gate, and check-in was a cooling treat on a humid day, with a champagne cocktail and cold towel. But what I appreciated most about Ceiba del Mar is that the resort actually feels like Mexico. You won’t find any swanky, over-the-top city aesthetic here. It’s all about authentic Mexican design – white adobe walls, light blue accents matching the ocean and an ancient ceiba tree growing in the center courtyard, which Mayans believe to be “the tree of life.”
