One of the reasons fashion is so much fun is that it’s all about fantasy. Dressing up in interesting, edgy pieces can completely transform how you feel, which is why going over-the-top with something like futuristic-inspired styles can be a great way to come out of your shell and create a one-of-a-kind look that gets noticed. We put together some of our current far-out favorites.

Designer profile
Alexandra Cipriani is all about using unique materials to create innovative looks that bring to mind wardrobes of the future. Both her couture costumes and ready-to-wear collections are created out of rare silks, leather, exotic skins and fur and metal, with eye-catching detailing consisting of rhinestones, Swarovski crystals, pearls, rare shells, silver and gold-plated metals, diamonds, chains and studs. Her creative use of distinctive material makes for boundary-pushing pieces sure to turn heads.
“I believe in variety and I hate limitations,” Cipriani says. “Sometimes extreme artistic expression and functional clothing design are being confused. I want to design clothes, shoes, and accessories that are both beautiful and wearable,” the designer explains.
Celebs that rock the look
Take a look at Lady Gaga or Katy Perry. Though their musical styles and overall looks are different, they do have a similar love for futuristic fashions. Plastics, metal, animal print and lots of over-the-top detailing set these chart-topping chanteuses apart from the pop-princess pack. Perry struts her far-out style on stage, while Lady Gaga’s love of all things eye-popping seems to have seeped into her everyday life. Seriously, she is always pushing the envelope when it comes to fashion and a lot of her latest head-turning outfits have had futuristic details we love.
