Vintage-inspired summer fashion

We spotted Brenna and Annette as a pair on their day off from work as they were cruising the shopping center and we couldn’t help but love their vintage-inspired ensembles. When we asked them about their personal styles, “It depends on our mood that day,” they told us. We think their mood-based fashion steers them in the right direction. Here’s what they had to say.

brenna’s Vintage style InSpiration

Vintage influence is at its best in Brenna’s fun look. “I like to watch movies from the ’30s and ’40s,” she says about the source of her wardrobe inspiration. Long beaded necklaces lend a funky vibe to her checkered dress and she shows us that mixing bright colors can look chic. Get a vintage look with fitted bodices and full skirts and then throw on some timeless Ray Bans and an eclectic piece of jewelry. We hunted down this antique-style encircled necklace from Francesca’s Collection.

Echo Brenna’s vintage wardrobe with these dresses and accessories

The Blueberry buckle dress from ModCloth, an online vintage-inspired clothing superstore, was our top pick for its eye-catching color. The blue Ray ban Wayfarers are the perfect touch, as Brenna shows us, to a summer style of this sort. You’ll shield the sun and turn heads all in one.

Named after the sixth sense of style, the six senses dress sports warm hues that come together for a subtly bright-colored summer dress. We picked out the encircled necklace from Francesca’s Collections that will give both of these dresses an extra edge when dangling gracefully from your neck.

All about Annette’s stylish silhouette

A classic hat and black sunglasses paired with a tight floral dress speak volumes about Annette’s personal style. She claims Audrey Hepburn as her style icon and we think the influence shines through. Her dress in a simple silhouette receives a boost from a summery floral pattern. So take a fashion cue from Annette this summer and pair a fun hat with a slimming dress in a floral pattern or bright color. Annette recommends one of her favorite stores, H&M, and we also found similar styles at American Apparel.

We love the idea of clashing this evergreen u-neck dress with the blue straw David and Young fedora for a daring summer ensemble. If you’re not feeling bold enough, rock a simpler fashion forward look by wearing the white straw bowler hat instead.

Polish off the look with a classic pair of black sunglasses. The oval framed black beauties caught our attention with their vintage essence while black Ray Bans bring a timeless element to any wardrobe.

Even though they seem to be an evergreen item throughout years of style evolution, the fedora hat isn’t the only way to top off your look with style. We found a felt boater hat complete with leather trim that we think provides another valid option for heading off into summer’s style market.
