Country music superstars descended on Nashville Wednesday night for the CMT Awards. Why did so many gorgeous stars get dressed in the dark?
What in the world is going on with fashion in country music? We’re seriously questioning the availability of stylists and common sense in Nashville ahead of the 2011 CMT Awards.
Sure, there were some standouts, but the vast majority looked like their either raided their (unfashionable) grandmother’s closet or pulled out a dress that was trendy back in 1996.
Think we’re being unreasonable? Let’s check out the worst and the best dressed at the CMT country music awards and you can decide for yourself.
Best: Jennifer Nettles in Valentino
Sugarland lead singer Jennifer Nettles walked the CMT Awards red carpet in a gorgeous Valentino number. The bronzed leather and lace dress was perfect for her gorgeous frame.
“We went for something that was fun and had an edge. You know me, I’m all about the sharper edge!” she joked on the red carpet.
Worst: Shania Twain
Oh, Shania. No, no, no, Shania. We’re so happy that Shania Twain is making her way back into the public eye, but we’re not sure why she picked this ill-fitting dress for the CMT Awards. She has incredible legs and the hem is too long, plus this looks better for church on Sunday than an awards show.
Worst: Sara Evans
Again, why do women with gorgeous bodies pick something so ill-fitting? Sara Evans‘ ill-fitting blue satin dress. It looks like something from the clearance rack at Wet Seal.
“I’m not a gown girl! I like to show my legs, so I almost always pick short. And I am crazy about the color!” Evans said. Well, we agree that the dress is crazy.
Best and Worst: Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman is a fixture at country music fetes these days, thanks to her country rocker hubby, Keith Urban. We like her Proenza Schouler dress, but what’s with the strappy (and purple!) Pierre Hardy sandals? We give her a C+ on this ensemble.
Worst: Hillary Scott
The lady in Lady Antebellum is a gorgeous, gorgeous woman — but her Alexander McQueen dress with studded belt does nothing for her figure. Loving the Louboutins, though.
AI for effort: Lauren Alaina
We love American Idol cutie Lauren Alaina‘s frilly pink dress — it goes great with her bubbly personality. Take our advice, Lauren: Ditch the two-toned skunk hair. It’s not cute… at all.
