Welcome to Pretty Little Things, where each week we bring you our picks for the prettiest little things online. If we love it, you’ll be the first to know! This week we take a look at six cute styles with a vintage twist.
What’s old is new again
One of my favorite fashion activities is checking out vintage stores and thrift shops. They’re like little treasure troves of potential style gold and if you’re patient, or at least in the mood to browse for hours, you’re likely to score something amazing. My last great find was a Marc Jacobs sleeveless knit top in a gorgeous camel color for around $15 (purchased in Brooklyn). It looks great with high waisted shorts and platforms and I always get compliments on it. With that in mind, I thought I’d look at some modern pieces with a vintage twist in honor of my love of vintage store style.

Retro shift
I love this cute retro-style shift dress (Bodenusa.com, $104) that looks like it could be straight out of the 1950s – in a good way. The fully lined frock features a fitted waist (very flattering) and a smattering of sequins at the neck for some subtle but well-placed bling.
Denim vest
Nothing says vintage to me like a distressed denim vest. I love them and think they do a great job of adding some edge to a feminine, floral dress. Check out this faded style (J. Crew, $98) that looks perfectly worn in and totally comfortable – just like you nabbed it off the rack in a tiny thrift shop.
Pretty peep toe
I can definitely see these elegant ivory heels (Mod Cloth, $35) on the rack in a vintage shop just waiting to be scooped up by a style savvy shopper. The criss-cross peep toe is super-cute and I love the feminine, flirty vibe of these heavenly heels. I’ll be pairing these with a wrap dress in a bold hue for a ravishing-in-retro look.
Button-down beauty
My love of fancy frocks knows no bounds. If I never had to wear pants again in favor of a dresses-only wardrobe, that’s a trade I’d be willing to make. So you can imagine my sly smile when I spotted this lovely look (Shopruche.com, $64) in floral-covered fuchsia. I love the retro-feel of this dress with cap sleeves and pretty white buttons down the front.
Lace cami
There’s something about lace that seems to always have a vintage quality, which is why I fell for this delicate camisole (Urban Outfitters, $39) – a cute piece that will look great tucked into a high-waisted skirt and topped with the faded denim vest already on this list. Add some strappy flats and you’ll have yourself an effortlessly chic summer look.
Perfectly-faded tee
T-shirts are at their most comfortable when they feel like you’ve had them forever or stole them from your boyfriend’s closet – soft, worn in and perfect for lounging in. This vintage-inspired cotton T-shirt with retro print (Revolve Clothing, $77) totally fits the bill. I especially love the ’80s-esque off-the-shoulder style.
