The final Harry Potter movie is upon us, and it’s safe to say that the whole world will miss their favorite characters. To help keep their memory alive, we took inspiration from their movie looks and translated them to pieces every Muggles can wear. There are countless lessons to be learned from Harry Potter, and fashion is one of them.
Harry Potter
With round glasses, messy black hair and a lightning bolt scar the “Boy Who Lived” has one of the most memorable character descriptions in literary history. His bravery, courage and loyalty embody every characteristic of the Gryffindor house he calls home. Honor Harry with a few pieces that guarantee you’ll stand out as much as he does.
Cute specs
Glasses have become a fashion statement with celebrities wearing their glasses on red carpets, or even sporting non-prescription lens just for fun.Totally round frames like Harry’s are quite the risk, but we found a few more subtle styles.
Optical frame with rounded cateye detail ($206, Tory Burch)
Glenda glasses in Black ($225, Mascot.com)
A little flash
Lightning bolts are an easy way to get this look. There are tons of clothing, handbag and jewelry options out there, but for every day looks, the smaller and more delicate pieces are best.

House of Harlow 1960 Black and White tribal wrap ring ($65, endless.com)
Whispers lightning bolt gold dipped necklace ($58, Dogeared)
Gryffindor pride
Scarlet and gold are the colors of the house and uniform Harry wears while playing Quidditch. The color combination is easily recognizable to fans, and looks preppy paired with jeans. Worn on their own, the colors also add a pop to a neutral wardrobe.
Short and stitchy cardigan in Wine ($88, Anthropologie)
Fine jersey short sleeve t in Sunshine ($18, American Apparel)
Draco Malfoy
He might not be the most loveable character of the bunch, but there is certain emotional complexity underneath that scowling façade. While we’re sure no one wants to copy his personality, his clothes are perfect in a dark sinister way.
All black
A solid black ensemble always manages to look chic. Try a more feminine rendition on Malfoy’s turtleneck for added elegance, or throw in some leather. A bad boy like Malfoy would surely approve.
Collezione women’s faux leather crinkle bomber jacket in Black ($61, Overstock.com)
MICHAEL Michael Kors women’s turtleneck sweater dress ($70, Overstock.com)
Silver and green accents
Green and silver are the house colors of Slytherin, Malfoy’s home away from home. Both happen to look quite perfect with an all black backdrop, so try an eye-catching green clutch or a flash of silver nail polish. Still not feeling inspired enough? Try adding jewelry featuring the Slytherin mascot—the snake.

Angelina’s sterling silver snake ring ($29, Eve’s Addiction)
Black diamond accent snake necklace ($22, Overstock.com)
Flote M street clutch in Hunter Green ($99, amazon.com)
Hermione Granger
Everyone’s favorite Muggle and bookworm is a great role model for countless young girls, and perhaps even women. Strong, smart and a bit stubborn, Hermione charmed us all. Those all gray school uniforms and jean outfits suited for running from bad guys aren’t necessarily crave worthy, so we compiled a selection of nerdy chic items that Hermione would surely approve of.
Uniform twist
The plaid skirt look is always cliché, but a pleated navy skirt with a buckle mixes the school girl look with the right amount of chic. Pair the modest skirt with a romantic white top instead of a plain button-up to keep the outfit from looking like an actual private school uniform. Ruffles, lace and flowy fabrics feel like just the thing a book crazed academic like Hermione would wear. A structured dress in Gryffindor gold also fits the bill.
Women’s side buckle skirt in Classic Navy ($40, Land’s End)
Ruffle vintage chiffon blouse ($27, Pink Cherie)
Take Action Dress ($168, Anthropologie)
High-heeled penny loafer
High heels are needed for this kind of outfit when looking age appropriate is a must. Anything with a chunky heel would work, but a sexy penny loafer style adds a bit of cheek to the outfit.
Boutique 9 Night in Cognac ($126, www.6pm.com)
Antique looking tablet cover
While Hermione might have a hard time giving up all those heavy old books, we can guess she would see the practicality in computer tablet that can hold hundred of volumes in one place. A personalized, vintage looking cover pays homage to the technology of yesteryears.
Custom Speck leather iPad holder in Wood Monogram Red, White, Black ($70, zazzle.com)
Ron Weasley
Goofy and absolutely adorable are the best ways to describe Ron. His red hair and loud, knit sweaters make him stand out as a Weasley, and we love it! For those of us not blessed with an enviable head of ginger locks or mothers who knit, we’ve gathered clothes in shades of red and chunky knits to honor Ron’s style.
Reliable red
Ron may have wavered a few times throughout the series, but his overall reliability makes him as memorable as you will be wearing this bold color.
Ruffle-tier tie-belt dress in Crimson ($35, Old Navy)
Millennium pull-on pencil skirt ($17, Charlotte Russe)
Matte jersey drape top dress in Red Hot/Sweet Kiss ($80, Calvin Klein)
Cozy knits
The sweaters Mrs. Weasley gives as Christmas presents are embellished with the receiver’s first initial and are a bit tacky. However, it’s the love she puts in them that’s most important. These sweaters are not be handmade, but they sure look mighty cozy.
Granita cardigan in Ivory ($98, Anthropologie)
Outfit architect sweater ($70, ModCloth.com)
Luna Lovegood
Luna’s style is unique to say the least. Her thoughts seem to float on a different plane, and her clothes reflect that. Anything pastel, eye-catching or whimsical is exactly what Luna likes. Try a few quirky pieces to stand out from the crowd.
Candy colored pieces
Luna puts together lots of different colors in one outfit, which is actually a big trend right now. Try staying with pastels and cool colors to get the look without going too extreme.
Karen Kane drape front sequin jacket ($108, Nordstrom)
Tiered asymmetrical dress ($30, Forever 21)
Floral print cotton voile skirt ($40, Loft)
Touches of whimsy
What makes Luna’s style special are her accessories. Crazy turnip earrings, bright colored tights and shocking glasses make everything she wears pop. You don’t have to layer it on like she does, but a little fun with fashion makes an outfit interesting.
