Welcome to Pretty Little Things, where each week we bring you our picks for the prettiest little things online. If we love it, you’ll be the first to know! This week we’re looking at fall footwear. Yes, we know it’s still summer, but we’ve already spied a few styles we love.
Fall footwear fetish
As much as I love sandals – from strappy flats to peep-toe wedges – I get most excited about fall footwear. And even though it’s barely August and I have lots of sandal wearing still to come (which I really don’t mind), I have come across a few pairs of cooler weather shoes I couldn’t resist sharing.
Wooden heel oxfordFor some reason I never got excited about oxfords. I think they’re cute, but they just never pulled me into a store after seeing them through the window. I wasn’t interested, that is until I started seeing more and more styles with a heel, which gives this menswear inspired style a feminine twist. I’m currently coveting this brown leather pair (Urban Outfitters, $78) with a wooden heel and a simple, classic design. I can’t wait to wear them with skirts and chunky knit tights. |
Red bootiesI can’t resist a cute pair of booties but so far I’ve only ever worn them in black. That is about to change now that I’ve seen these gorgeous red ones (Anthropologie, $98) in a rich burgundy-red leather. I love the houndstooth trim, the stacked heel is just the right height and the addition of pretty teal ribbon laces make these shoes a unique and eye-catching option for fall. |
Buckle bootsThere’s something about wearing boots that have some edge – that look like they’re tough and worn in and extra sturdy that I love. Sometimes I don’t want what I wear on my feet to be girly and when that happens, these solid leather buckle boots totally fit the bill (J. Crew, $325). They look like a cross between riding boots and motorcycle boots – or what you’d get if those two styles were merged into one, fabulous fall boot. Pair with everything from your oldest, dearest jeans to your most feminine floral frock. |
Frye bootsI have wanted a pair of Frye boots for years, and I think this year is going to be the year I finally buy some. When I do, it will be this slouchy, dark brown pair (Revolve Clothing, $328) that I’ll be after. These will look amazing with a pair of dark skinny jeans and an oversized sweater or even worn over tights with a wool mini skirt and a faded denim jacket. These will definitely be my go-to boots come fall and I can’t wait to slip them on and strut my stuff. |
Platform pumpsAs simple as they are (no frills, no bells and whistles), I swooned when I saw these black Elizabeth & James hidden platform pumps (Shopbop.com, $295). They may be simple, but they definitely don’t skimp on style. I love the design – elegant with a dash of edge – and I know they’re the type of shoe that can elevate any outfit from just OK to over-the-top. |
