Welcome to Pretty Little Things, where each week we bring you our picks for the prettiest little things online. If we love it, you’ll be the first to know! This week we’re looking at some of the cute, cozy sweaters we’ve come across in anticipation of fall.
C’mon get cozy
As soon as the temperature starts to drop and there’s crispness to the air, I immediately want to wear oversize sweaters, chunky knits and anything with a hood. Fall style, to me, means effortless comfort. It can be structured and polished, but it also has to be worn with ease. Now that we’re on the fast-track to fall, I thought I would share some of my recent cute and cozy finds.
Loose knit cardiganFall is all about layering so you need to have a good balance of both looser and more fitted items. That way, you can create a stylish yet cozy look perfect for combating the chill in the air. I love the simplicity of this loose knit cardigan (My-wardrobe.com, $142) in soft gray with white buttons and piping. I’m also partial to the relaxed fit and sleeves you can roll and button if you want a three-quarter sleeve look. |
Animal sweaterYou can’t have a sweater collection without at least one of them featuring an animal motif (a trend that seems to pop up every fall). I recently fell in love with this adorable knitted jumper with two squirrels taking center stage (Top Shop, $84). The fitted crew neck sweater is striped in cream and apple green and will look great with dark denim. |
Shawl-collar ponchoThe epitome of style and comfort, I was immediately smitten with this cashmere poncho (J. Crew, $198) in a sumptuous shade of champagne. The short sleeves and boxy silhouette make for easy layering and the kangaroo pockets in front add to the cozy feel of this luxurious piece. |
Sweater coatI had a sweater coat a few years ago and I loved it. I have no idea what happened to it, but one day I went into the closet and it just wasn’t there. I must have lent it to someone or left it at a restaurant, but I’ve been looking for the perfect replacement ever since. I think I may have found it in this fitted, Shetland wool style sweater (Rugby.com, $278) with a flat knit shawl collar and vintage feel. |
Dolman sweaterThe great thing about sweaters is how versatile they can be. I’ve included a few heavier knit looks on this list, but I also love a lightweight style for days where it still feels like summer (even though it’s just a tease). This Ella Moss dolman sweater (Revolve Clothing, $198) in blocks of charcoal and black is effortlessly chic and easy to pair with anything from denim to leggings. |
Sweater dressI also couldn’t consider this list complete without a sweater dress. I love them for their simplicity, comfort and the fact you can throw one on over tights. Just add boots or chunky heels and you have a great fall outfit. Recently this striped sweater dress (Swell.com, $64) caught my eye. I love the oversize neck, ribbed cuffs and the rich colors that make up the stripes. |
