Twilight‘s Christian Serratos’ flawless hair color transformation

Christian Serratos, also known as one of Bella Swan’s only human friends Angela in the Twilight Saga series, donned a sleek, shiny dark ‘do for the Breaking Dawn premiere. Find out how her stylist flawlessly transformed her hair color from red to dark brown.

Before
After

George Papanikolas of Andy Lecompte Salon is known as the go-to colorist for celebrities and socialites alike for his creativity in creating the most current hair color trends. Some of his clients include Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Papanikolas took the Breaking Dawn actress from luscious red locks to sleek, deep brown tresses. In order to create her rich, dark color, he used prestige hair products such as Joico’s Hair Repair System, which helped repair and lock in color.

Papanikolas has a specific step-by-step process of how he took Christian Serratos’ hair from a red burgundy to a dark chocolate:

Know the hair

Papanikolas says it’s important to recognize the look and level of hair care you have for a transition. “Her hair was a level six red, and we needed to transition her to a rich chocolate brown.” With that information, it made it easier for him to work with her hair carefully and precisely.

Envision the end result

Papanikolas emphasized that it’s critical to not only know what you have to work with, but to envision the end result. “The red is a great foundation color for creating a rich chocolate, but you have to neutralize it to cancel the red out.”

Rely on quality products

Using the best products that you’re familiar with that will get the job done is the best way to go. Know the hair and the products. Papanikolas says that he relied on the best products when he was coloring Serratos’ hair, because he knew they would get the job done and make her hair look the best. “I relied on Joico’s Chrome in A5 (medium ash brown). The demi-permanent color richened and deepened the color to the perfect shade.”

Educate your client

Papanikolas says that it’s a must to educate your client so they will protect their color and have healthy hair. “I told Christian that it is important to not over-wash her hair. For color protection and hair strength, I used K-PAK’s color therapy shampoo and conditioner.”
