Tsubo shoes? Never heard of them, I told her. Well, Tsubo (which means “pressure point” in Japanese) is a shoe brand that was created in 1997, by the dynamic British duo, Nick O’Rorke and Patrick McNulty. Their goal was to create a comfortable shoe. They achieved this by designing a sole with air bubbles positioned at different pressure points of the foot to make you feel as though you are walking on air due to the cushion effect of the oval bubbles.
Out of curiosity, I wondered if there were a certain number of bubbles on the sole to cushion the foot, so I contacted publicist Samantha Slaven-Bick of Deckers Outdoor Corporation (which acquired the Tsubo brand in 2008). She replied, “Tsubo does not have a count regarding how many bubbles are on the soles of each pair, but they are placed for maximum comfort and ergonomics.”
Without any hesitation, I decided to do the unthinkable and trade in my painful designer heels for a pair of Tsubo’s comfortable Dufay 2-1/2″ heels for a mere $40.00 (60 percent off of the original price of $100.00 ) at 6PM.com. Not only am I walking on air but sunshine, too, because I have finally found a brand that not only comes in fabulous styles but is a true fit for the feet and won’t break your bank or back.
