For the mom on the go, there is no better makeup option than using one product and color all over your face. By following these easy steps, moms can save time and money while looking gorgeous and radiant.
Choose your color
The first step to a monochromatic face makeup is to choose a color that lends itself to being used all over the face. Some of the most universally flattering shades are bronzes, browns, golds and brown-pinks. One to try is Go Natural, ($40, www.go-natural.net) which is a brown powder that adjusts itself to various skin tones and can be used as a foundation, blush, eye makeup and lip color. Another shade that is flattering on almost every skin tone is NARS The Multiple in Palm Beach ($39.00 www.narscosmetics.com).
Choose your formula
The next step is to choose the type of makeup formula that would work best for your skin type. Women with oilier skin should look at powder based makeup (such as The Balm Hot Mama, a pink/peach blush and highlighter, $19, Sephora.com). Women with dry skin should try creamier makeup formulas such as Stila’s Convertible Color, and women with combination skin should try stick formulas, such as Josie Maran Argan Color Stick ($22, sephora.com). Another benefit of a stick or cream formula is that they are easily transportable (throw it in your purse or diaper bag!) and don’t require a brush.
Prep your face
Next, apply a tinted moisturizer with an SPF of at least 15 all over your face, including on your eyelids. You can also use a primer to create an even, flawless face.
If you are using a powder
First, use a kabuki brush to swirl color on your cheeks and use your fingers or a cotton swab to apply to your eyelids. You can even use a damp cotton swab or eyeliner brush to apply as an eyeliner. By wetting the powder, you will create a deeper shade to create contrast. Finally, for your lips, apply petroleum jelly to your lips for moisture and use your finger to apply color to your lips. The petroleum jelly and powder combination will create a colored gloss effect.
If you are using a cream or stick
Start by applying dots of color to the apples of your cheeks and blend well. Next, apply to your eyelids and your lips. If you are using a bronzer, you can add subtle color to your forehead and nose.
