The fashion runways are where we find our inspiration for some of the best trends, but should we follow everything that the runway shows us? Here are three beauty trends you shouldn’t be trying at home.
Faux bangs
Taking them at face value, faux bangs have some appeal because they give you yet another way to wear your hair. But when you realize how they work, it means one thing: a ponytail fringe pinned to your head. The best way to achieve bangs is getting the real ones. Take the plunge and ask for the snip; it will be far less painful than trying to explain why your ponytail is pinned upside down to your head.
Exposed bobby pins
The faux mohawk has been working its way up on the beauty trend list and while it can be pulled off successfully, this new exposed accessory is not one to bring out of hiding. Bobby pins are scattered all over our bathrooms and always come in handy when a strand of hair gets loose. But keep in mind they were created to discreetly pin hair into creative ‘dos and not designed to make a statement on their own. So unless your bobby pins are decoratively adorned with crystals or bows, we suggest that you keep this hairdresser tool in hiding.
Creased eyeshadow
This beauty trend has us fighting against it already because it can easily go from kind of chic to messy if you don’t apply it expertly. When it comes to color, there was no shortage of bright lids over at Fashion Week — a beauty trend you should embrace this fall but not without proper application. A thin line of colored eyeliner or metallic mixed with a smoked eye is the right way to show that you know how to wear this trend — and it won’t create any creasing.
