New York Fashion Week color trend report: Top colors for fall

Fashion Week is officially in the books and we’re breaking down the best hues from the fall 2012 runways. What colors should you put in your closet and how do you wear them? Read on and learn everything you need to know for fall!

Burgundy

Could burgundy be the new black? You would think so after this year’s fall shows. It served as a new neutral hue and will soon become the new backbone of your fall wardrobe. Whether it’s in leather, denim or chiffon, there will be plenty of ways to wear this strong color trend and we have a feeling it will be everywhere.

Orange and aqua

This pair was definitely my favorite color duo from the fall runway shows. Tangerine isn’t a surprise since it’s the new ‘it’ color, but its counterpart is making a comeback into your wardrobe for fall. Keeping orange and aqua together in prints, color blocks and accents will give your fall wardrobe a boost and show the world you were paying attention this season.

Ivory head to toe

White gets a bad reputation after Labor Day, but New York Fashion Week gave us no reason to say no to this color for fall. The clean ivory look was most highly applauded when worn head to toe. The best way to turn this look from summer to fall is to build your white wardrobe in structured pieces with rich fabrics like wool and cashmere. However you decide to wear ivory this fall, your look will be a hit.
