SI Swimsuit Issue approved: Olay teams up with Venus for new razor

The first ever official razor of Sports Illustrated‘s annual Swimsuit Issue has a tall order to live up to. See if the new Venus + Olay partnership is up to snuff.

Five-blade technology and shave gel bars with Olay skin conditioners for moisture preservation sound too good to be true. When you add the fact that Chrissy Teigen, one of the Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue models, can’t go without shavingtwice a day with the new , then you know you have something truly special.

Teigen swears by the new gizmo for nick-free days, and before a photo shoot, she makes sure that she exfoliates her skin prior to shaving.

Venus has had a history of offering women razors that make their skin look goddess-like, but this new partnership came about because 68 percent of women surveyed in a poll indicated that they really wanted “Goddess Skin.”

The five-blade Venus and Olay razor is not just hype: It really works to get down to the tiniest bit of hair on your body. You can even use it on your knees and ankles. I found the Olay Moisture Bars (these hug the blades) gentle enough to use even on my highly sensitive skin. My legs were free of nicks and stubble and thoroughly moisturized after the shave. This is partly because of the petrolatum and glycerin ingredients in the bars.

There’s also no need for a shave gel because the Olay bars release a light lather on your skin. What’s also great about the razor is that you need to only go over your skin once with it. In this aspect, the Venus and Olay razor efficiency is laudable and perfect for the woman on the go who’s pressed for time.

The rounded pivoting head designed specifically for women’s curves works like a charm, and the ergonomic no slip handle is ideal for control. Out of the countless razors that cross my desk, I’ll keep reaching for this one because the results are flawless and Swimsuit Issue worthy. I’m not surprised that Chrissy Teigen loves hers.

The new Venus and Olay razor hits shelves this month and will retail for $9. Each pack comes with an in-shower holder with suction so it can air dry in between uses. Remember to change the cartridge whenever you feel the bars have started to wear down or the razor blades aren’t catching every itty bitty hair.
