Get the look: Fashion Star episode 4

Whether you’re searching for something luxe for a chic dinner party or an affordable, flirty dress for Sunday brunch, there’s something for everybody on this week’s Fashion Star. I take my favorite look from this week’s episode and make it even more wearable for less as your personal stylist and resident style guy.

Fashion tip

The best part about a neutral olive jacket is that it can be worn this spring with a cute pair of shorts and tank as Kara showcased and then easily transitioned to fall with a skinny jean and chunky boot.

Keep in mind… given that the jacket is darker, try lightening your overall look with a pale top and bottom. This will instantly give depth to your look.

The toughest part about being a well-rounded designer is appealing to everyone, whether that is the Upper East Side glamour queen or the everyday woman that needs a quick, easy and affordable piece for a fun event. Luckily, Kara Laricks proved that she could design for every woman this week.

Her high-end and low-end interpretation of the military coat left me speechless and started a bidding war between Macy’s and Saks! Kara is definitely a front-runner for me and has sold $230,000 worth of clothes so far in the competition. You go, girl!

My favorite look from this collection? This structured and chic olive blazer — perfect for any casual weekend look.

J.Crew Silk and Cotton-Blend Military Jacket $83, Old Navy Cuffed Tie-Waist Twill Shorts $25,
Clu Racer-Back Cotton and Modal-Blend Tank $23, ASOS HOST Gladiator Espadrille Wedges $73,
Target Beldo Lux Washed Pebble Crossbody $25
