Fun things to do in Oahu

North Shore

Away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, Oahu’s North Shore offers all the beauty without the crowds. Only one hotel, Turtle Bay Resort, calls the North Shore home, making it much less populated by tourists. Stop at any of the beaches along Kamehameha Highway, including Waimea Bay, for white sand, jewel-toned water and lots of relaxation. During the winter months, crowds do pick up a bit for the surfing competitions that play out of these beaches, including the famous Pipeline, a surf reef break which produces enormous waves. For great eats, head to the town of Kahuku to sample the famous Kahuku corn and don’t miss Giovanni’s Original White Shrimp Truck, which offers the most delicious and garlicky Kahuku shrimp scampi you’ve ever tasted. Take the hour drive from Waikiki for a day trip you won’t soon forget.
