Diamond Head
If you remembered to pack your walking shoes and are feeling up for a hike, head out for a climb of Diamond Head, part of the Honolulu Volcanic Series. Once home to Hawaii‘s first military reservation, Diamond Head is now a state monument attracting droves of tourists each day. Although the hike to the top is not listed as strenuous, there is plenty of uphill climbing and three sets of steep stairs between you and the rim. Once to the top though, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Waikiki and the sparkling waters of the Pacific. Due to its popularity, it is best to start your hike early in the morning when you won’t have to contend with crowds on your way up the stairs. And no matter what time you visit, don’t forget water and sunscreen.
