Which do you love more at Halloween? Tricks or treats? Either way, these party ideas have all the fun and a bit of the fright, too!
Invite early
A great Halloween party starts with the invitation. And since Halloween kicks off the holiday party season, I suggest you invite all your ghost and goblin friends early, mailing invitations at least four weeks before the big night!
Create the perfect spooky spot
Whether you’re hosting your party in your backyard or a spooky old barn, fill a designated area with lots of decorations that draw your guests in. We hung large paper pumpkin lanterns from our barn’s rafters. You could hang large balloons upside down from tree branches in your backyard and even draw lantern faces on them with markers to get the same effect!
Set the table
For your desserts, scour your home for containers that might help set the mood. Glass filled with bright colors in your palette always works great, but don’t stop there. Be creative and look for things you might not traditionally serve food in. Just make sure that you clean them well and that you only serve prepackaged treats in those containers. You can also line them with Halloween-inspired food-safe papers found at your local craft store.
And hang a crafty and easy-to-assemble banner over your table or in an entryway for an extra pop of color. Plus, a banner can help define the space and tell your guests that the party is over here!
Get crafty
Get creative and make my easy Frankenstein, ghost and jack-o-lantern monster candy dishes with bowls and candlesticks from the dollar store. Fill each with bright and colorful candies to help define your monster!
Give old decorations new spook
Not every decoration needs to be new or crafted. Reach into all those Halloween decorations in the basement or garage and select fun and creepy accents to complete the look.
Keep it under wraps
Easy trick-or-treat beverage wrappers can turn an ordinary orange soda into a scary Halloween potion. Is it still a treat? Or is it now a trick?
Make sweet into creep
Your guests may shiver at the sight of these creepy crawly cupcakes, until they decide this little snack is all fun!
Bake cupcakes or pick up your favorites from your local bakery and embellish them with sugar-coated gummy worms, along with paper cupcake wrappers and cupcake picks from The Celebration Shoppe.
