This country duo recently acquired a new puppy named Etta and realized how impactful a furry addition to the family can be.
That’s why they have partnered up with Purina Dog Chow to raise awareness for Patriot Rovers Inc. a group that rescues dogs in order to rescue our veterans.
What it is
Keifer and Shawna Thompson’s new puppy, Etta, has fit seamlessly into their hectic touring schedule, and has provided the sense of family and home just by wagging her tail. After realizing the amount of joy an animal can bring to a family, Thompson Square decided to partner with Purina Dog Chow to highlight the amazing group Patriot Rovers Inc. Not only does Patriot Rovers rescue dogs, but they also rescue our hometown heroes. When veterans return home, they often have to deal with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or traumatic brain injury due to combat.
Patriot Rovers rescues and trains dogs to be able to provide support and unconditional love to their veteran in order to enhance their lives. All of the dogs receive a minimum of 40 hours of instruction before being finally placed, or deployed. Each veteran also receives a starter pack that includes basic dog care items and a 100 pounds of dog food, as well as ongoing opportunities for therapeutic camaraderie and ongoing training. All of this is at no cost to the veteran. The best part of this this inspirational program, though, is that the pups are named after fallen soldiers, with the permission of the “Gold Star” parents, of course.
A Dog’s Life
After learning of this worthy cause, Thompson Square worked with Purina Dog Chow and asked families to post pictures of their pets on the company’s Facebook to share how their pet has impacted their life. The Facebook page also gave families a chance to check out Patriot Rovers, Inc. and help them donate up to $25,000 to the organization. The country crooners even produced an exclusive song and video just for Purina called “A Dog’s Life,” a song that Keifer wrote 10 years ago about seeing life through a dog’s eyes.
