Fresh fruit can brighten up any occasion. Learn how to incorporate it into your wedding as place cards.
What you’ll need:
Most of these items you may already have in your house, making these place cards an easy and fun DIY project:
- Fresh fruit (you can match the type to your color scheme)
- Black paper
- White or silver markers
- Pencil
- White printer paper
- Scissors
- Corsage pins
Directions:
Step one: Sketch
On the white printer paper, sketch out a leaf design. They do not have to be perfect, thankfully, since most of us are not natural-born artists; if you want a little extra help, try these leaf templates. Remember, though, that a slightly imperfect leaf will actually look more natural than one that is too precise. Make sure to take into account how long certain names are and if you will need to make different-size leaves.
Step two: Trace
After cutting out your leaf template, trace the leaves onto your black paper. Make sure to trace two leaves, because one will be used for the name of the guest while the other will be used for the table name. Once that is done, cut out both of your leaf designs.
Step three: Write
Choose your white or silver marker and write the guest’s name on one leaf and the table name on the other. Use each guest’s first and last name, so there isn’t any confusion. You can name the table after the specific type of fruit that is being used. This is optional but makes for a cute theme.
Step four: Pin
Gather your leaves and bend them slightly so they have a curve to them. Then, insert the corsage pin through both leaves. Make sure the leaves are one on top of the other so your pin goes through the same spot on both. This will make it easier to separate them once they are on the fruit.
Step five: Pin to fruit
Insert the pin into the fruit. The leaves can go anywhere on the fruit, but place cards usually look best when the leaves are placed as naturally as possible. For example, if you are using an apple, pin them close to the center of the stem. Once the leaves are placed on the fruit, spread them out slightly so both the name and the table are visible. Repeat these steps for however many guests you have. Congratulations on your new, totally cute place cards!
