As gorgeous as those flower-embellished Anthropologie vases are, they can cost up to $100! Save your pennies for something else and make your own Anthro-style vase with this easy and pretty DIY!
For less than $10, you can make your own gorgeous vase that would cost three times that amount in your favorite stores. Since most sculpting clay comes in a multitude of shades, you can make a rainbow of colors for all of your rooms.
Supplies:
- Sculpting clay (white or colored)
- Vase
- Glue or adhesive
- Butter knife
Instructions:
Mold and flatten clay
Take the clay and mold it slightly with your hands to warm it up. Then push it down with your palm to flatten it so you can easily cut out petal shapes.
Form petals
Using the back of your butter knife, cut out petal shapes.
Once you have the petal shape, smooth out the edges and gently fold the sides of the petals up to make it look more like a flower.
Assemble the flower
Layer the flower petals together and mold them to create one flower shape. You want to create at least three to four layers of petals to create a natural, 3D look.
To create the middle of the flower, roll small balls (at least three) and place in the center of the petals.
Bake to harden
Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F. Place the flower carefully in a foil-lined baking dish and bake for about 20 – 25 minutes, or until completely hard (but not cracked).
Attach to a milk glass vase
Using glue or sticky adhesive, stick the back of the flower to your milk vase. Let dry for a few minutes and then decorate!
