If you’re looking for a fun and easy way to add a special touch to your family portrait session, these oversized fringe props are the perfect solution!
They’re budget friendly and can be customized to any letter, shape, number and color you like! Spell out the family name or use everyone’s initials, create numbers for the ages of each child, or make a quirky “+” and “=” sign! The options are endless, and the best part is these props can be used in your home and in the kid’s rooms long after the photo session ends!
Supplies:
- Cardboard
- Crepe paper folds (you can find a great selection here!)
- White glue
- Scissors
Directions:
Decide what letters, shapes or numbers you want to make, and draw the outline on your cardboard. Carefully cut them out using a good pair of scissors.
If your crepe paper isn’t already folded, fold it into one section, a few inches wide. Cut a one-inch strip off the bottom of this section. Leaving it folded, cut small fringe strips along the entire piece, through all layers. You’ll need to cut several of these, but the amount you’ll need will depend on the size of your prop.
Starting at the bottom of your cardboard cutout, glue strips of your fringed crepe paper, one strip at a time, trimming at the end.
Keep layering these strips of fringe until you reach the top! Always keep the strips going horizontally.
