Put that tax return to good use at these hotels that reward taxpayers for getting their forms in on time!
Hotel Palomar Dallas
They say everything is bigger and better in Texas, and there’s something special about Dallas — not just because there’s a long-running television show based on this unique town. Perhaps it’s the big hair, big money and bigger personalities, but we love everything this sleek southern city has to offer. Kimpton property Hotel Palomar Dallas has everything you could ask for — an onsite spa, heated outdoor pool, a daily evening wine hour in the luxury hotel living room and more. This year they are rewarding taxpayers with their “1040 Gimme a Break” package that includes 10 percent off the best available room rate, a $40 food and beverage credit towards room service or the hotel’s New American restaurant Central 214. The special will run through the end of April, and Central 214 will offer $10.40 food and drink specials on Tax Day (April 15).
Old Yacht Club Inn Bed and Breakfast
It’s no secret that California has some of the highest tax rates in the country, but the Old Yacht Club Inn Bed and Breakfast in Santa Barbara is trying to do something about it. For Sunday-to-Thursday stays until April 30, Old Yacht Club Inn is offering a “Bed, Breakfast and Beach Relief” package that will waive the City of Santa Barbara hotel taxes (a whopping 12 percent!). The charming inn also offers a full complimentary breakfast, an afternoon wine social, bike rentals, Wi-Fi, beach chairs and towels, and it’s the only inn in Santa Barbara with a beach location. We love the Portofino Room, which features a sitting area with a built-in window seat, a fireplace and French doors that open onto a balcony.
Bolongo Bay Beach Resort
You filed early and now you should be rewarded. How does sun, sand and crystal-clear water sound? Well that’s exactly what Bolongo Bay Beach Resort in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands is offering this tax season. Named one of the world’s best beachfront hotels according to Frommers, Bolongo Bay Beach Resort is inviting guests to spend their tax returns pampering themselves with 15 percent off room-only or all-inclusive rates, a complimentary sail for two (sunset cocktail cruise or swimming with turtles on a half-day snorkel trip), complimentary nonmotorized water sports and live entertainment at the property’s beach bar. Book soon! This great deal is only available until April 30. As a reminder, although U.S. citizens do not need a passport to enter the U.S. Virgin Islands, it’s recommended to travel with your passport, as you may need it to re-enter the United States.
Prince Resort
North Myrtle Beach is one of those American beach towns where you can have any kind of vacation you are looking for. Golf? The area is home to over 100 courses. Shopping? Take your pick of shopping malls, factory outlets, specialty shops and flea markets. Family fun on the boardwalk? The new 1.2-mile-long boardwalk features not only games, restaurants and kitschy shops, but also the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel — a 187-foot-tall observation wheel with 42 glass-enclosed, temperature-controlled gondolas. Take in all that Myrtle Beach has to offer this tax season by staying at Prince Resort. They are offering a package that’s only available for booking on Tax Day (April 15), and includes 10 percent off the best available rate and a $40 coupon to their Just Off Main restaurant.
