If you’re like us, you’re counting down the days to your first official family summer vacation this year. It’s so close we can taste it! If you’re still looking for ideas, look no further — we found the best!
Summer vacations only come once a year for most families (though the lucky ones do get to take two or three), so it’s important to make the most of your time together. Vacations are the best way to escape our hectic everyday lives and relax while creating precious memories with our loved ones. Whether you’re a family that enjoys spending their summers cruising on a boat at the lake, surfing the waves at the beach, hiking scenic trails while camping or simply relaxing at a nice resort, we found the perfect destination for you this year.
The Bahamas
You would think a trip to the Caribbean would be super-pricey, but it’s actually more affordable than the Hawaiian Islands. A trip to the Bahamas — specifically Atlantis Resort — is the ultimate summer family vacation. With ample amounts of activities for the kids — think water slides, pools, games and marine life — and plenty for the adults — golfing, spa visits, gambling, fine dining and dancing — Atlantis is everything you could want in a vacation and more.
Washington, D.C.
For families that enjoy sightseeing and history, and love being on the go, Washington, D.C. has you covered. On average, it takes people two weeks to really see and soak in all the monuments, historic buildings and museums, but you could get by staying only one week. Kids will love visiting the National Children’s Museum — which allows children to climb and explore — and stopping by for dessert at one of Washington’s famous cupcake shops. Learn, explore and discover this summer with a trip to D.C.!
Park City, Utah
A destination built with outdoor enthusiasts in mind, Park City is all about hiking, biking and seeing the beauty of the great outdoors. Spend a few hours visiting the Utah Olympic Park — home of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games — followed by a whitewater-rafting adventure in the afternoon, and a jam-packed music festival later that evening. You’ll never run out of things to do and adventures to embark on with a trip to Park City.

Orlando, Florida
When thinking of family vacations, Disney is one of the first choices that come to mind. This summer, take the kids to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida to give them — and yourself — the trip of a lifetime. Disney World takes vacations and family fun seriously — after all, they are the largest vacation resort in the world. With hundreds of rides, shows, tours and museums (and even some nightlife for the adults), the fun literally won’t stop until you’re headed back home.
San Diego, California
San Diego is the prime summer vacation if you’re looking to both relax and be entertained. Home of SeaWorld, the San Diego Zoo, Seaport Village and downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, you’ll be plenty occupied. Let’s also not forget the fabulously warm beaches for relaxing, surfing, boating and even parasailing. San Diego is a great destination for those looking to splurge or for those on a budget — the trip is what you make of it.
