The cake itself will be decorated with symbolic flowers, and each tier of the cake will have a different theme: English roses, Scottish thistle, Welsh daffodil and Irish shamrock will represent the four corners of the United Kingdom.
The couple will also serve a “Sweet William” cake, decorated with traditional wedding floral and natural aspects, including acorns, bridal roses, lilies of the valley and ivy leaves.
One of the biggest controversies surrounding the wedding is Kate’s desire to wear flowers in her hair instead of a traditional tiara. The bouquet Kate will hold as she walks down the aisle is still under speculation, but royal experts expect that her bouquet will be very natural and tasteful—nothing too flashy or flamboyant. When Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, flowers from the royal garden were used in the ceremony, and that could be just the case for William and Kate.
Beginning on April 29 (the day after the Royal Wedding), the flowers will be on display in Westminster Abbey, where tourists can observe and take photos with these famous flowers.
