You’ve heard of growing a salad garden, but we all know that you can’t live on salad alone. Well, you can but where’s the fun in that? Especially when you’re craving pizza. Skip the salad and grow a pizza garden!

The basics of any niche garden is that it contains all the fresh ingredients for that recipe niche. For a salad garden, you can grow anything imaginable for salads. Of course, that will include lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, herbs and whatever else you like. Since you can’t grow mozzarella or pepperoni, what, you ask, should be planted in a pizza garden?

Anything you like on a pizza is appropriate for a pizza garden. And this is sure to be a garden the kids really get excited about. Grow Italian vegetables, like Roma tomatoes and oregano, to create fresh pizza sauce. If you like pesto or Pizza Margherita, you’ll also want to grow some basil. Bell peppers, mushrooms and onions are always pizza favorites. If veggie pizzas are really your thing, you may want to include some of the more unusual pizza fare like zucchini, artichokes and spinach to give you plenty of dinner options.
