- Tools are one of the most expensive aspects of establishing a garden. Save here by choosing multi-purpose tools. Also, look for used tools at yard sales and Craigslist. Keep in mind that paying a little more now for a quality garden tool will save you future replacement costs.
- Rent heavy equipment. If you only need to till or aerate once in a blue moon, borrow or rent the equipment instead of buying your own.
