We love our pets — there’s absolutely no denying it. There’s also no denying that sometimes, they can drive us crazy with their antics and naughty behavior. I brought my Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, Sully, home a year ago and I love him more than life itself but he also managed to destroy my house in his first few months of life. After lots of home repairs, training sessions and tough lessons, we’ve gotten into a pretty good routine that keeps us both happy but we couldn’t have gotten here without some genius products to make both our lives easier.
If you too, have a super loveable but problem-causing pup, I’ve done the hard work for you and found all of the things you need to solve every kind of pet-related problem. Ahead, you’ll find the problem-solving products no pet owner should be without.
Our mission at SheKnows is to empower and inspire women, and we only feature products we think you’ll love as much as we do. Gentle Leader
This was such a game-changer. It took Sully a little getting used to at first, but it stopped him from pulling on his leash during walks within just a few days and it doesn’t involve any painful choke collars or anything like that. Totally pain-free for your pup and great results for you!
Furminator
Maybe you won’t need this if you don’t have a shedder, but if you do, boy is it worth the investment. I thought that was kind of a ridiculous price for a dog brush until I saw how much hair it removed. I was vacuuming three times a day before I got this. Granted, Berners are MAJOR shedders and I still have to vacuum a ton but this brush really helps cut down on the amount of time I spend cleaning of black fur.
Slow-Feeder Bowl
Eating too fast can be dangerous for doggies. It can cause bloat or just general discomfort but we can’t simply tell them to slow down. Luckily, these bowls exist. They ake it a little trickier for your dog to get their food out which forces them to eat a bit slower.
PupRug
Dog beds are not the prettiest pieces of home decor and I hated how much space Sully’s took up in our living room. Then when I found the PupRug, I was able to switch out his bulky old bed for this super soft bed that looks like a stylish rug when he’s not laying on it.
Wyze Cam
I like to spy on SUlly when I’m not at home to make sure he’s not getting into any trouble. These are the most affordable cameras I could find and they couldn’t be easier to set up. They even have two-way audio so you can talk to your pups through the camera while you’re away.
Greenies
These treats supposedly improve dogs’ dental health by helping remove plaque and tartar. Sully is only one, but his vet says his teeth look great and he gets about one of these a day so I guess they work? He loves them regardless!
Stuffing-Free Toys
You’ll get sick of picking up the ripped out guts of your pup’s toys real fast. I don’t know why they find such pleasure in destroying their favorite objects, but they do. These toys have no stuffing so they’re a lot less messy!
Pooper Scooper
The worst part of owning a dog is definitely the poop. There’s no point in sugarcoating it — it sucks. But at least with this scoop, you don’t have to reach down with a baggie and use your hand to pick it up. Keep your nose as far away from the poop as possible!
Chi Keratin Spray
I use this after baths to give Sully a little extra shine and softness and I also use it between baths to freshen him up. It has a great scent that can even mask the odor of Sully after he’s been swimming all day.
Kong
If you need to entertain your dog for a good 20 minutes, fill this with peanut butter, freeze it and then let them work on getting all of that delicious peanut butter out.
Bully Sticks
And if you need to distract your dog for a full hour, toss them one of these bully sticks. Sully will not move for a full hour until the entire stick is gone and it gives me one full hour of total peace and quiet.
