Most tattoos hold special meaning to the people that have them, but semicolon tattoos are taking things to a whole new level.
Project Semicolon began in 2013 to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention, and they use a semicolon as a symbol because, as they put it, “A semicolon represents a sentence the author could have ended but chose not to. The sentence is your life, and the author is you.”
Semicolon tattoos inspired by the group’s manta serve as a beautiful extension of the project. Here are some of our favorites.
