I love hosting Thanksgiving — there’s something magical about having my home filled with friends and family who have joined together to reflect on what matters most (and enjoy some great food).
But it’s a big responsibility to take on. Having worn the proverbial chef’s hat firsthand, when I go to other peoples’ houses for holiday meals, I always make sure to bring along a token of my appreciation.
Great hostess gifts don’t have to require a lot of work. This isn’t the time for anything extravagant, and with the holidays in progress, you also don’t want to find yourself in the middle of an elaborate DIY project. Just look for something simple that can be enjoyed after the guests are gone, when the cook can enjoy a little time just to herself.
Whether you send something after the fact or bring a gift that can be enjoyed the next morning, these easy, elegant gifts will put a smile on any hostess’s face.
The gift of breakfast
After cooking all day, who wants to make breakfast the next morning? A gift basket of artisanal baked goods, jams, butter, coffee and pastries will be welcomed with open arms.
Godiva Masterpieces
Godiva Masterpieces chocolates, whether you go with a filled bar or individually wrapped chocolates, are treats your hostess can indulge in long after guests go home (and have eaten all the pie). Now available in the chocolate aisle in Milk Chocolate Caramel Lion of Belgium, Dark Chocolate Ganache Heart or Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Oyster varieties.
The gift of dinner out
A cute card with a restaurant gift card inside is a thoughtful gift after all that cooking.
Vintage kitchenware
A family heirloom or antique shop addition to your hostess's kitchen is a gift that will be used for years.
Something totally relaxing
At the end of a long celebration, your host will be thankful for this basket of spa-inspired goodies.
Embellished flower photo
Send this gift after Thanksgiving. Choose your fave pic from the night, then embellish it with pretty flowers.
Homemade whipped butter
It's always the thought that counts, but when something is homemade, your hostess knows it came from the heart. Plus, these DIY flavored whipped butters are way better than anything you could buy at the store.
Funny kitchen towels
These kitchen towels are hilarious, but keep things simple enough to still be elegant. Doesn't get much more perfect than that. (RootsandWingsShop/Etsy, $25)
