A sweet serenade might be a romantic gesture to some women, but Christina Aguilera is decidedly not in that category.
Christina Aguilera might be one of the most talented singers there is, but don’t try to win her over with a song. The singer — set to make her return to The Voice this fall — is Maxim‘s newest cover girl.
And she’s not just showing off her new, slimmed-down figure. In the interview, Aguilera reveals what she considers to be a cheesy romantic gesture.
“The quickest way for me to feel weird and run for the hills is if somebody sits down and serenades me with a guitar. It’s not my thing,” she told the magazine.
Hear that? It’s the sound of a million potential suitors breaking their guitars.
I can totally understand that sentiment. Call me crazy, but any sort of dating gesture that involves a guitar, poetry or a heartfelt love letter makes me uncomfortable. However, giving me a massage — or taking over a huge chore that I hate — puts a potential BF on my good list in no time flat.
The secret to dating, Aguilera says, is to be honest and open all the time.
“I love genuine guys; that’s why I pretty much stay away from celebrities,” she tells the magazine. “I don’t care about money, because, trust me, I can support myself.”
And sexy is all a state of mind.
“Trying too hard to be sexy is the worst thing you can do,” she says. “Sexiness should be effortless.”
