After a 27-year courtship, George Kirby, 103, and Doreen Luckie, 91, have finally made it official. Now they are the world’s oldest newlyweds.
The couple got married in Eastbourne, England. Like any newlywed couple they kissed and glowed and smiled and loved. Could they be more adorable?
See below:
“It’s a bit of a surprise really, after all this time, getting married again,” Luckie said. She was a widow and between them, they have seven children, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Kind of amazing.

I just love this. My own grandfather remarried after losing my grandmother in 1985. For him, the second marriage was a new start and a new lease on life. We often lament getting older. We worry we will lose our vigor and sexiness and it all happens far too quickly.
I have watched as the young man I married has turned into the 38-year-old man I am with today. After 14 years together, we are aging before our very eyes and it is beautiful and scary and there is constantly the sense that no matter how much time we get together, it won’t be nearly enough. But even so, there is something beautiful about the idea that one can love again. No two loves are the same, of course, but each one can serve it’s place. How lovely to have a companion to be with, someone we love and cherish, even when we lost the first one.

It’s inspiring and moving and such a testament to life and love and the power we can have toward healing one another. May they live a happy life together for as long as they have.
