Watch couples try to blindly guess their partner just by holding hands (VIDEO)

One thing most couples do on a regular basis is hold hands. So it’s natural to assume, after many hand-holding sessions, you’d have a pretty good idea what your significant other’s hand feels like.

Or would you?

While you might like to think you’d know your lover’s hands anywhere, if you’re only allowed to use touch, the task becomes a lot trickier. BuzzFeed, in one of its many attempts to better understand the couple connection, decided to see just how difficult it might be to distinguish your lover by touch.

They looked at two couples — Matt and Patrick, and Tyler and Safiya. Matt and Patrick had been together for two and a half years, whereas Tyler and Safiya had been together for only one year. Let’s see if that extra year and a half made any difference.

Size played a big part in Matt’s decision-making process. He even compares himself to Goldilocks, which is, needless to say, adorable. Considering the storybook comparison, it was perfect to have Patrick round out the three choices, even though I don’t think he was too pleased to hear Matt call his hands “cold.”

Tyler and Safiya had an altogether different experience during their guessing game. Tyler had to pick his girlfriend of one year out of a similar lineup of three ladies, and Safiya definitely put some pressure on him to get it right. She flat out says, “I hope he can guess it, but if he doesn’t… I won’t dump him.” I think it’s safe to say that, while it may not end their relationship, it would certainly put Tyler in the doghouse.

He seemed pretty certain the first hand was not Safiya’s, and all you have to do is look at her expression to see how much that bothered her. He also thought hand number one was too small to be his girlfriend’s, which is, needless to say, not a compliment.

Now let’s talk about the intimate relationship Tyler struck up with hand number three. He felt an immediate connection to it and thus could not have been more sure it was his girlfriend’s. It wasn’t. But perhaps it should be?

For now, Tyler’s got some serious making up to do. But if for some reason it doesn’t work out with Safiya in the long run, he should really consider giving hand number three a call.
