If you think sexy model men are the ones who get more women than anyone else, you might want to think again. A new study says men with that infamous “dad bod” actually have more lifetime success with women than hard-bodied hotties. Weird, right?
As it turns out, women aren’t looking for Mr. Hard Body Trainer Dude. They are looking for a comfortable, tallish man who is not too fat, not too thin.
The study comes from new Chapman University study and was published in the journal Evolutionary Psychology. It looked like any other study when it comes to height (taller men tend to have more sexual partners than shorter men):
“Men who are relatively tall may be preferred by women because taller height is a cue to dominance, social status, access to resources, and heritable fitness, leading them to have more mating opportunities and sex partners.”
The surprising part, though, is that men who are considered “overweight” tend to have more lifetime sex partners (8) then men who are fit and trim (4), which means that somewhere along the way, women really did decide we like someone with a little meat on their bones better.

I have to say, it’s not shocking. I am actually opposed to the whole “dad bod” trend. I work very hard to maintain my fitness and physique and I expect the same from my husband. I would not appreciate him deciding to just let himself go. On the other hand, there is a middle ground. I would also be very turned off by a man who is so focused on his physique, he forgets how to be loving and sexy.
It’s also true that, while I love that my husband is fit and trim, I don’t love that the thinner he gets, the more pressure I feel to also be fit. Maybe we women want men who are a little overweight because it helps us feel better about our bodies. Or maybe because they are more confident and relaxed and, quite frankly, that’s sexier than a 6-pack any day.

Fat men may get more women. And we women know exactly why that is.
