Lucy Sparrow has built a sex shop in Soho created entirely from felt. The mammoth task took her six months, during which she stitched over 5,000 sex products, including condoms, lubricants, porn mags and bondage gear.
Madame Roxy’s Erotic Emporium is former sex worker Sparrow’s response to recently tightened pornography laws: in December 2014 the U.K. made it illegal for online pornography to depict certain practices, including face-sitting, female ejaculation and caning.
Sparrow said she “seeks to challenge the rights of sex workers, fetishists and consumers of porn with the creation of a complete sex shop which, were the exhibits not made from felt, would be illegal.”
“Does a porn magazine created from felt and hand-stitched break Britain’s new porn laws?” she asked. “The show gives the opportunity for those who know little of the sex retail industry to satisfy their curiosity without the need for floor-length trench coats and dark glasses.”
