Great weekend getaways for couples

Recharge your relationship with a romantic budget-friendly weekend away! Check out these great escapes that will show your bank account some love, too.

A Winery Weekend

You don’t have to go to Napa for wine tasting and gorgeous scenery. Do your research and find an area close by (or easy enough to get to by car) that is known for its grape growing! You can spend a glorious afternoon tasting vino and picnicking outside. Make it an overnight excursion by checking into a charming, affordable bed and breakfast.

If you live in the New York area, head to the sprawling, award-winning vineyards of Long Island’s North Fork region. If you live near Washington DC, drive just 45 minutes outside to picturesque Leesburg, Virginia and its surrounding wineries. (The Norris House Inn is a fabulous little B&B that offers a wine tasting tour/overnight stay package.) Even in the Midwest, wineries are popping up everywhere!

Ski Towns in the Off-Season

Who needs snow to have an action-packed weekend in a ski town? In the summer months, lodging is much more reasonable and there are tons of outdoor activities for adventurous couples. Hot spots like Vail, Jackson Hole, Aspen, Telluride, Mad River Valley and Whistler (just to name a few!) offer hiking and mountain biking trails, music, arts and food festivals, and incredible sightseeing for nature lovers.

Small Town Secrets

Large, bustling cities aren’t the only places that boast great food, culture and sights. If you and your man like exploring up-and-coming spots, pack up the car and visit a small town with big potential for fun. From eclectic art galleries to boutique hotels and amazing antique shops, it’s a perfect leisurely weekend away. Ask friends and family for recommendations. It’s amazing what inside scoop you can learn just by word of mouth!

Go on a “Staycation”

There’s no need to go very far to relax and feel pampered. Book a night in an upscale hotel in your city to relive your honeymoon for a night. Since you don’t have to shell out the big bucks on flights or rental cars, you can splurge on the spa, a great room and candlelight dinner for two.

Quick Trip to the Caribbean

From Turks & Caicos to St. Kitts, a long weekend with your toes in the sand is at your fingertips. Thanks to the addition of more non-stop flights from big cities, it’s a whole lot simpler and faster to get to the Caribbean and into that warm blue water! Go after the holiday rush and spring break for more affordable rates. Also check out cruise lines for great weekend deals.
