Sometimes we like our hot guys to have an eccentric streak. Enter Johnny Depp, whose intellect and cheekbones keep us coming back for more, more, more. He’s reprising his role as the bizarre Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 3: On Stranger Tides, which has already raked in more than $90 million, thanks in no small part to its fetching male lead.

As undercover cop Tom Hanson on 21 Jump Street, Depp whipped wayward high school students into shape. Word is, Depp makes a cameo in the movie version of 21 Jump Street, starring Jonah Hill, set to come out in March 2012.
TV gigs aside, his breakout role was playing the title character in Tim Burton’s noir movie Edward Scissorhands in 1990. Through sheer talent, he made a misunderstood misfit lovable, and we love Johnny for that.

And he does it not only for himself and the people with whom he’s working, but also for the audience. “If you just go out and deliver the same dish every time… It’s meat loaf again.… you’d get bored. I’d get bored.”
And somehow, no matter how crazy the costume, he still manages to look sexy.

Depp has two children — a daughter, Lily Rose, and son, Jack — with girlfriend Vanessa Paradis. He has said this about his daughter: “Anything I’ve done up till 27 May, 1999 was kind of an illusion, existing without living. My daughter, the birth of my daughter, gave me life.” Adorable!
His dedication to his family was one of the reasons he was dubbed People‘s Sexiest Man Alive in 2009 (he also won the honor in 2003!). Actress Isla Fisher had this to say about Depp: “Johnny Depp has magical powers. He’s unlike anyone else,” she says. “He’s funny, generous and clever. It’s just a shame he’s so hard on the eyes.”
