Fun fall date ideas to look forward to

As much as we love beach days and patio drinks, there are a lot of great things to look forward to come fall – which happens to be a very romantic season. To help ease the sting of summer’s imminent disappearance, we thought it would be a good time to share some fun fall date ideas to get you and your man excited for a whole new season of love.

Fall color appreciation

Once the leaves start changing color, we suggest taking a drive where you can get an eyeful of the gorgeous yellows, reds and oranges at their peak. Better yet, stay at a bed and breakfast or rent a cabin to take in the beauty at your leisure. There’s something so romantic about sharing the start of a new season with someone you love. And what better way to do that than with the changing of leaves? The Weather Channel has a helpful fall foliage map for finding out where and when to go to see fall colors.

Apple picking

Going apple picking is probably one of the most quintessential ways to celebrate fall. So, grab your guy, head to the nearest orchard and get picking! Not only will you get to spend the afternoon outdoors enjoying the fresh air, you’ll come home with a ton of fresh, delicious apples you harvested yourselves. Check out this directory of apple orchards in the US to find one closest to you. Get creative with your apples! There are so many things you can make with them including pies, muffins and cakes, sauces, jellies and even chutney.

Cozy picnic

Picnics don’t have to be a summer-only activity. In fact, a fall meal al fresco is a great way to spend an afternoon or early evening with your sweetie. You may need to bundle up if it’s particularly breezy, but cooler temperatures mean more opportunity to snuggle up on your blanket (a pretty big bonus if you ask us!). Pack hearty soups or stews in thermoses, hard cheeses, crusty breads and tasty extras like olives, roasted peppers and cured meats.

Cooler weather hike

It can often be too hot to hike in the summer – who wants to sweat their way along a nature trail? But once the humidity drops and the temperature dips, hikes become a lot more enjoyable. If you and your guy love the outdoors, grab your hiking boots, pack some power-packed snacks and get moving. You can use this handy site to find a trail in your area.

If you’re really feeling adventurous you can always book a fall camping trip- the sites are less crowded and the bugs are gone!
