Fun flip-flop crafts for kids

You can turn your child’s favorite summer footwear into a fun and colorful flip-flop project. From a flip-flop wreath to flip-flop garden markers, your kids will have tons of fun making these flip-flop crafts!

Flip-flop garden markers

What you’ll need:

  • child-sized flip-flops
  • self-adhesive foam letters
  • waterproof glue
  • garden stake

What you’ll do:

  1. With the foam letters, spell out the name of the vegetable or herb you would like to label.
  2. Peel off the backing from the foam letters and stick the letters to the flip-flop. As an alternative to the foam letters, your child could use markers or waterproof paints to decorate the flip-flop.
  3. Use waterproof glue to glue the garden stake to the back of the flip-flop.
  4. Once the glue has dried, stick the flip-flop stake in the garden to label your plants.

Flip-flop wreath

What you’ll need:

  • 4 pairs of flip-flops
  • 10-inch wreath form
  • hot glue
  • 8 silk flowers
  • ribbon
  • scissors

What you’ll do:

  1. Glue the flip-flops to the wreath form. Alternate gluing the heel of one flip-flop and the toe of the next until the entire wreath form is filled. Safety note: Adults should assist small children and carefully supervise older children with the hot glue.
  2. Cut the stem off of the silk flowers. Put a dab of glue on the back of the flowers and glue flowers in the space between each of the flip-flops.
  3. Cut a piece of ribbon that is 2 feet long. Loop the ribbon around the wreath form and tie the two ends in a bow.
  4. Trim away any excess ribbon and hang the wreath.

Fabric covered flip-flops

What you’ll need:

  • flip-flops
  • 1/3 yard coordinating fabric
  • pinking shears

What you’ll do:

  1. Cut the fabric into strips that are 1 inch wide by 4 1/2 inches long. Use pinking shears to cut the fabric to help prevent it from fraying.
  2. Divide the fabric strips into two equal piles.
  3. Start tying the fabric strips around the strap of the flip-flop. Tie half of the strips around one flip-flop, and the other half of the strips around the other flip-flop.
  4. Once the strap is completely covered with fabric strips, the flip-flops are ready to wear!
