This googly-eye covered frame will delight the young and the young-at-heart, alike. The project comes together very easily with just a few, simple supplies. Younger kids can move faster through the eye-adhering task by using larger googly eyes and a smaller picture frame.
Picture this: I’ve got
my eyes on you!
Supplies needed to make a googly-eye frame:
- Wooden craft frame
- Black acrylic craft paint and paintbrush
- Elmer’s® Early Learners™ Glue Pen
- Three packages of googly eyes
- Small piece of orange scrapbook paper
- Gold ribbon
Instructions:
Paint the frame
Remove any glass/picture from the frame and paint the entire thing black. Allow to completely dry.
Glue the eyes
Glue the eyes all over the frame, either in a pattern or totally randomly. Take care to keep glue only on the bottom of the eyes and the frame. If your preschooler does get glue on the top part of the eyes — and you are using the Elmer’s® Early Learners™ Glue Pen — any glue residue can be cleaned up with a paper towel and warm water once eyes are secure.
Make and attach the embellishment
To create the embellishment that is on the frame, either purchase or print out a picture of a skull — the art shown was free clip art printed from the internet. Cut out the skull and mount it to a circle cut from orange-patterned scrapbook paper. Glue the ribbon at the back of the frame, overlapping the eyes on the front, and then glue the skull circle to the top of the ribbon. Finally, add the googly eyes to the skull. Frame your favorite Halloween picture or a funny, appropriate phrase, as shown.
