This advent calendar is fun and easy to make. You can customize the background with any color or pattern of holiday fabric that you like.

Supplies:

  • Foam core board
  • Spray adhesive
  • Christmas fabric
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors
  • 25 Metal tins
  • Green and red scrapbook paper
  • Number stickers
  • Wooden star

Directions:

1

Step 1

Trim the fabric down so that it is a couple inches larger than the poster board on all sides.

2

Step 2

Coat one side of the foam core board with a generous layer of spray adhesive.

3

Step 3

Stretch the fabric across the foam core board. Be sure to smooth out any wrinkles in the fabric.

4

Step 4

Let the spray adhesive set for 15 to 20 minutes, then flip the board over. Use hot glue to glue the edges of the fabric to the back of the foam core board.

5

Step 5

Remove a lid from one of the metal tins and trace around it on a sheet of green scrapbook paper.

6

Step 6

Cut out the circle and put it inside the lid behind the plastic.

7

Step 7

Cut out 21 green circles and 4 red circles and slide one into each of the 25 lids.

8

Step 8

Lay out the circles on the foam core board in the shape of a Christmas tree. Form a triangle out of the 21 green tins, then make the trunk of the tree with the 4 red tins.

9

Step 9

Once you are happy with the layout, put some hot glue on the back of each tin and glue the tins in place on the board.

10

Step 10

Use the number stickers to add the numbers 1 through 25 to the tins.

11

Step 11

Put a dab of hot glue on the back of the wooden star, then glue the star in place at the top of the tree.

12

Step 12

Fill each of the tins with a piece of candy or a small toy, then your advent calendar is ready to use!
